Buddy Ball About

Our Mission

To recreate sports for individuals with physical, intellectual and/or developmental disabilities to give them an opportunity to play sports, regardless of their abilities.

Who We Are

Buddy Ball Special Needs Athletic League is a non-profit athletic program offering individuals with physical, intellectual and/or developmental disabilities the opportunity to learn and play a variety of sports and participate in a variety of special events offered year-round. There is a long list of sports that are part of the Buddy Ball program including bowling, street hockey, basketball, cheerleading, bowling, soccer, baseball and flag football. Buddy Ball teaches athletes teamwork, helps promote self-esteem and assists them with physical fitness and social skills.

Buddy Ball is part of Progressive Directions, Inc. The league began in Montgomery County, headed up by Larry Wallace in 2001, which means this year marks our 20th anniversary! We also expanded to Henry County in 2016.

Several local organizations and businesses have donated money and supplies throughout the years. Bikers Who Care provided the seed money that originally started the league and have remained consistent supporters of Buddy Ball to this day.

We operate solely on donations and offer all sports and events free of charge to anyone who participates.

Buddy Ball is open to adults and children 3 years and older that desire to play organized, non-competitive sports. A “Buddy” is someone who supports our athletes to be able to enjoy all aspects of the games that they may not have the opportunity to do in a competitive sports league. They may assist athletes to swing a bat, round the bases, catch a ball and enjoy all other aspects of the game.
